about

Mind Debris started with a dialogue about how the mind seems to have an inertia beyond our control, and how we frequently find ourselves being bombarded by our own streams of thought. This can be overwhelming, sometimes even scary.

The song undergoes three phases: each phase representing a completely different thought from the previous one, hence completely independent musically. The first section is representative of a focused mind. The second section is a transition; it resembles an intense drift. Finally, the third section comes back to focus, stronger than ever before.

The lyrics portray big, spacious landscapes, trying to show how big our universe is and how small our understanding of it is. For this reason our minds can wonder away from our control from time to time. We’re simply trying to accommodate every piece of stimuli that is given to us. Even if our thoughts continue to change, because the world will as well, we can find comfort in the idea that the simple effort to assign meaning to this big mess called life, is enough to give us a sense of direction, or perspective.

lyrics

[Verse 1]
While searching for truth
I stumbled upon
A lonely mountain
And then light restarts again

[Verse 2]
In an ocean so vast
The truth moves to fast
I barely caught it
And then light restarts again

[Verse 3]
Phased moving along
In a city so tall
I nearly lost myself
And then light restarts again

[Verse 4]
In a forest so broad
Where no beauty is flawed
I came close to myself
And then light restarts again

And then light restarts again
